VISITOR SERVICE

Get help at your arrival point

International service centers can help with mobile payment, SIM cards and transport. The airport T3 center is beside international arrivals and lists 24-hour service.

02 / GETTING HERE

Arrive with a
real plan.

Choose your arrival point for a practical first-step guide. Published hours can change, so check again on your travel date.

A port is the border crossing; its metro station may be signed as a “Checkpoint.” Use the Chinese names in each arrival guide to match local signs.

Fastest useful move

Save your hotel name and address in Chinese before you land. At the metro, supported contactless Visa, Mastercard, Amex and JCB cards can be tapped at marked gates; keep one backup payment method.

01

Crossing from Hong Kong?

Futian and Luohu have different closing times. Huanggang is the published 24-hour passenger crossing, but onward buses and metro have their own schedules.

02

Airport pickup matters

At T3, official taxis, ride-hailing and metro use different parts of the Ground Transportation Center. Follow the signed pickup zone in your booking.

03

Leave a time buffer

Immigration queues and road conditions vary. Keep a generous gap before trains, tours or timed museum entries, especially in APEC week.

01 / ENTRY

Check your exact passport route

Visa-free transit is not the same as ordinary visa-free entry. The 240-hour transit scheme requires an eligible nationality, a permitted entry point and a confirmed onward ticket to a third country or region.

02 / PAYMENTS

Set up two ways to pay

Contactless international cards work at Shenzhen Metro gates. For small shops, a mobile QR wallet may be easier. Carry a backup card or modest RMB cash in case a merchant cannot take your preferred method.

03 / CONNECTIVITY

Prepare offline essentials

Save your hotel address in Chinese, booking confirmations, and a route screenshot. Confirm your roaming or data plan works in mainland China before relying on any one map or payment app.

04 / VENUES

Check the day and the door

For museums and observation attractions, verify opening day, reservation, ID requirements and the exact entrance. Public parks and independent shops follow different rules.

05 / WEATHER

Have a rain swap

Switch a coast or hill plan to Huaqiangbei, a public cultural venue or a gallery if rain or strong wind arrives. Follow official alerts for beaches, hikes and ferries.

06 / APEC WEEK

Travel by station, then walk

During 16–20 November, use metro as your default and check the last walking leg. The city has said road controls will vary by place and time, and will be published in stages.

CONNECTIVITY

Need a mainland SIM?

Bring your passport to an official carrier store and ask for a short-stay plan. At Bao’an Airport T3, the international service center can also advise on SIM options. Confirm ID requirements and counter hours before relying on same-day setup.
